· President Barack Obama:
Obama's first election in 2008 saw him deliver his victory speech outside, in Grant Park. This time around the event was moved indoors, to the McCormick Place Convention Center. Obama wasn't too far awayjust a short trip up Lake Shore Drivewatching the returns, as his crew called the Fairmont Chicago temporary election HQ last night. It's a beautiful hotel with 687 rooms (including only one presidential suite), and the recent $50 million renovation completed in 2010 included the installation of awesome features like this piece of light art at reception.
· Governor Mitt Romney:
Romney and crew holed up right next door to the Convention Center, site of their victory party-turned-concession speech, within the Westin Boston Waterfront. It's a massive property, with 793 guestrooms and a view over Boston Harbor. There's only two presidential suites, however; who wants to met Romney booked both and though the "presidential" part of the suite name would turn literal by night's end?
