The Next Flagship Hotel to Open in Singapore Will Drip with Tropical Gardens

Perhaps 2012 can be known as the year we were sweet on Singapore. From The Raffles to the original Shangri-La and all the boutique hotels in between, "The Lion City" roared through the year and continues to do so, as another grandiose hotel prepares to make headlines with its December 2012 debut.

This property, the PARKROYAL on Pickering, will be the flagship for the PARKROYAL brand (part of the Pan Pacific group) and is already bragging that it's "Singapore's first-hotel-in-a-garden." We're sure the Shangri-La's Garden Wing would love to argue, but let's humor the PARKROYAL for a moment.

The 367-room hotel is just outside the business district, but definitely easy walking distance away to it, Hong Lim Park, and Chinatown. What'll really attract guests, however, is that dripping jungle look it has got going on. This design has already earned it the BCA Green Mark Platinum, Singapore’s highest green rating, as well as the Solar Pioneer Award for a solar energy system. All in all, it slightly reminds us of those lush hovering mountain-islands from the movie Avatar.

For those who love to get in on soft opening deals, the PARKROYAL on Pickering has rooms from $227 per night (including breakfast) for bookings from 1 January – 31 March 2013. Now, for some bonus facts:

· With over 160,000 square feet of sky gardens, waterfalls, planter terraces and green walls, the hotel’s greenery constitutes more than twice its total land area.
· Guest rooms offer breath-taking views of the city and come equipped with light and motion sensors for energy conservation.
· The hotel has a dedicated wellness floor featuring an infinity pool, a fitness center overlooking the city, unique cabanas as chill-out spaces and a 900 ft. garden walk.
· No space is more than 26 feet from a window, maximizing the amount of natural light.
