Nobody at the hotel knows exactly why it's called Hotel Chandler but we dig it. We're also keen on its 31st and Fifth Avenue location. There's absolutely nothing here (other than the Empire State Building a few blocks away), which makes the property feel more residential than anything else.
All rooms are spacious (the standard starts at 250-square-feet, most likely bigger than your apartment) and come equipped with bay windows that fully open. And we're not talking a three-inch crack. Welcome: fresh air! It's super cozy with all the amenities you'd ask for: flat-screen TV, iPod docking station, Frette linens, free WiFi, room service, and Molton Brown bathroom amenities.
The lobby with its Library room feels like your rich, gay uncle's den with its neutral color tone and traditional European backing, but enhanced with interesting art pieces and furniture, like a tree-root-lamp imported from Costa Rica.
Right now, because there's pretty much nowhere to make food until January, they're offering Continental breakfast and an intimate, street-facing cocktail lounge to get your boozy elixir fix.
Hotel Chandler became a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World this past April, which only amps its luxury factor. And honeymooners in the know have been coming for years (about 4-5 couples book a week). Best of all, if your initials are HC, the initials embroidered on the hotels' slippers, you get a free pair! There's still time to whip up a fake ID, Harry Clark. Oh, and by the by: we're HotelChatter. Shan't we get a pair?
In honor of its renovation, Hotel Chandler is offering the "Chandler Refresh Package" including late check-out, complimentary cocktails, breakfast and tickets to Empire State Building. You must call the hotel directly for rates and mention "Refresh Package" for the exclusive offer before 2012 ends. And don't forget to mention your new name, Hilary Cho!
