The Morning After: Le Parker Meridien's Empty, The Standard EV Is Missing A Balcony

If you had friends or family staying at Le Parker Meridien last night, you may want to give them a call and make sure they didn't end up sleeping in a cave in Central Park. As we predicted yesterday, the hotel was one of the buildings that had to be evacuated due to the rogue crane that was dangling menacingly from the top of the Park Hyatt New York building yesterday.

Though plenty of hotels surround the Park Hyatt building, it seems LPM was the only one to get evacuated by the NYPD. As a result, more than a few bewildered guests suddenly found themselves on the streets without a backup plan—indeed, most nearby hotels were already at capacity. One French visitor told the NY Post: "We don't know where to go."

As of this morning, the hotel remains completely empty, and a Front Desk agent confirmed that the hotel likely would remain that way for the rest of the day.

Jeez. You'd think Le Parker Meridien's resident psychic would have seen all this coming!

But that wasn't the only hotel directly affected by the storm last night. An eyewitness down in the East Village reportedly saw part of a glass balcony fall off the Standard East Village. Yikes!

Sounds like Standard may have been hiring contractors from the same company as W Hotels! (In case you've forgotten, they also faced multiple incidents of falling glass windows and balconies in the past).

As we reported earlier this month, the SEV is a hive of activity—and will remain so for the next six months until construction on the ground floor public spaces is finished. Though, similar to the Park Hyatt, we bet the Standard is wishing their construction equipment had been secured just a tad better.

Several downtown hotels have also lost power, we're in the process of figuring out which ones are ok. We can confirm that The Nolitan lost power but has a backup generator.

Revel

has posted the following on their Facebook page:

"Revel has experienced minimal damage from the storm, but remains temporarily closed. We look forward to reopening, and will announce more information as soon as travel restrictions are lifted."

Hyatt says Full, now Avail, so what's the deal?

We've heard contradictory reports (the latest saying rooms are available), so que pasa?

And while we of course focus on NYC properties, remember there's power lost in many, many areas.
