7 Unusual Bloody Mary's For a Boozy Brunch

We’re finally getting into Halloween mode and thought it would be fun to think about getting bloody. No, not homicidal (though we are glad it’s Friday), just making the switch from summer mimosas to that rich classic fall brunch cocktail, the Bloody Mary. We asked our HotelChatter editors and contributors to pick their favorite hotel restaurants and bars that are serving them up with a twist. Get to sippin'!

Verde Bloody Mary
This spectacular green version served at Splashes Bar at the Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, is concocted with cantaloupe and Thai chili infused vodka. The verdant green color comes from a combo of cilantro and tomatillos. Warning : It packs a big kick. (glamtravel, contributor)

Aussie Bloody Mary
This bloody mary was created by lobby bar manager Jared at Brisbane's Emporium Hotel. The drink marries predominantly Aussie ingredients like muddled bush tomatoes, local tomato juice, Mt. Tambourine pepper vodka, Murray River pink sea salt flakes and Byron Bay pepper sauce for spice. Not as thick and soupy as its American counterpart, the mixture of sweet and savory make for a refreshing drink or hangover cure. A winner! (Jetflyboy, contributor)

“Chicago Style” Bloody Mary
The South Water Kitchen at Kimpton's Hotel Monaco in Chicago is truly out of control and nothing we’ve ever seen before. It comes with locally made Metropolitan Kolsch beer and has garnishes inspired by those found on a Chicago-style hot dog: pickle, tomato, sport pepper, bacon, and cheese. (Chanize, Editor)

The Crazy Caesar
Made with Clamato juice instead of tomato juice, this drink was invented at, what’s now, the Westin Calgary hotel in 1969. The Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon's 6Twelve lounge, in Saskatchewan has a take on this Canadian classic by using bacon-infused vodka and bourbon, Clamato juice, house made spice, a smoked sea salt and pepper rim; and an antipasto skewer as garnish. Bloody Mary-Dutch Style
Freddy’s Bar Amsterdam's Hotel De L'Europe has a reputation for having the best Bloody Mary in the city. Award-winning bartender, Robert-Jean actually went to Beijing to represent his country at the International Bar Association’s World Cocktail Championships. He won’t give everything away, but his version of the iconic cocktail includes Ketel One vodka, “special” tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, fresh lime juice and ruby red port! The Bacon Bloody Mary
They say everything is better with bacon in it, so we can’t help but be drawn to this drink from the David Burke Kitchen at The James New York. Made with bourbon, organic tomato, and maple bacon, it sets the right tone for brunch. (Chanize, Editor)

The Do-It-Yourself Mary
Edge, Steak & Bar at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami has a Do-it-Yourself Bloody Mary Bar with tons of garnishes including pints of pickled peppers, smoked okra, blue cheese stuffed olives, jumbo shrimp, house made pickles and more. (Chanize, Editor)
