The Tides are Changing at Viceroy Hotel Group

Tides Riviera Maya, now the Viceroy Riviera Maya

Now that the Tides South Beach is no longer a Viceroy Hotel (it belongs to cool kid hotel brand, King & Grove), we've been wondering what would be happening to the Tides Hotel brand that Viceroy had spun-out from this iconic South Beach property. Well, today we have our answer. Sort of.

Just after the Tides Riviera Maya in Mexico finished up their sexy renovations, it was announced that the hotel is now going by the name Viceroy Riviera Maya.

This leads us to think that Viceroy is just going to rebrand the other Tides resorts as Viceroys. However, Tides Zihuatanejo is still the Tides and according to the Viceroy Hotel Group website, the Jalousie Plantation in Sugar Beach, St. Lucia, is still set to turn into a Tides resort. But we'll see about that.

Meanwhile, Viceroy is picking itself up after the Tides loss as it will manage three new hotels by 2014--Viceroy Maldives, Viceroy Bodrum and Viceroy Istanbul. Exotic! We just hope that hotel massages will be safe again by the time the Viceroy Maldives opens.
