*The first part of 2012 at least. So many good hotels are opening this year!

As the first week of the new year draws to a close, we've already been pleasantly surprised by some great hotel news like the start of a new brand in China from IHG as well as a new mid-market brand for the U.S., an opening date for NYC's first gay hotel, more Tune Hotels in the UK, the impending arrival of a third Bulgari Hotel (in London) and the Trumponian technique of the upcoming Trump Toronto.

But gosh, there are so many openings to look forward to in 2012. We are hard at work on our Master Hotel Openings List but here's something to keep you satiated for a bit--5 Hotel Openings We're Excited About.

1. THE BELGRAVES: FEBRUARY 1
There are a quite a few hotels opening in London this year, thanks to the Summer 2012 Olympics, but one that we can't wait to step inside of is The Belgraves, the first truly international hotel from Thompson Hotels. The 85-room boutique hotel is promising Sferra linens in the rooms, white and grey marble bathrooms with marble floors, walk-in showers, toiletries from Penhaligon's and LCD flat-screen TVs. The hotel will also have an 80-cover restaurant from Chef Marc Hix as well as a library bar, a fitness center and a lobby scene that aims to be "a second home for both hotel guests and London’s glitterati alike."
Rates start around $400 USD a night.**

2. W PARIS: FEBRUARY 14
This Valentine's Day we look forward to (FINALLY) cuddling with our new lover--the W Paris--whose 91 rooms will feature high ceilings, black chandeliers, pretty carpeting, gorgeous city views, some funky LED lighting and also some very open bathroom plans as the sink is only separated from the bedroom by a mirror partition. Hope you that won't bother the real lover you plan on shacking up with at the hotel.
Rates start at around $537 USD a night.

3. THE SAGUARO PALM SPRINGS: FEBRUARY 1
The original Saguaro Hotel in Scottsdale has not been open for very long but already it's planning a spin-off in Palm Springs in February, just about the time when we'll be needing a quick weekend getaway to the desert. We got word that the PS hotel will be very similar to the Scottsdale property with a complete redesign from Stamberg Aferiat using vibrant colors inspired by the indigenous flowers of the region. And no doubt there will be a lively F&B scene and a mucho affordable price point.
Rates start at $99.50 a night.

4. CONRAD NEW YORK: MARCH 1
The arrival of a Conrad in downtown NYC has been long overdue. But when the hotel opens in March, guests can expect all-suite accommodations starting at a plush 430-sq.ft. The hotel will also offer guests complimentary breakfast and afternoon wine receptions. But that's not all for the F&B scene. There's a Shake Shack adjacent to the Conrad and a second Blue Smoke restaurant, and North End Grill from restauranteur Danny Meyers will open just mere steps away. There will also be a 16th rooftop bar, the hotel's own Atrio restaurant and a modern day coffee and wine bar. Plus you can Ireland from the hotel!
Rates start at $343 on opening night but on March 2, they go down to $239.

5. SLS SOUTH BEACH: APRIL
More than three years after the very first SLS hotel opened in Los Angeles, the follow up edition will appear in April with the SLS South Beach. Once again, Philippe Starck has taken over the interior design reigns while chefs Jose Andres and Katsuya Uechi will show off their culinary creations in their own restaurants. Even rocker Lenny Kravitz will be participating in the hotel by designing a luxury poolside bungalow and penthouse suite. Rounding out the amenities are a salon and blowout and Hyde Beach Club, a daylife/nightclub that will spill out onto the sand.
Rates for the hotel have not been announced yet. We'll let you know as soon as we hear.

**All room rates listed are for the hotel's opening night. These rates were valid as of January 5, 2012 but are subject to change.
