2012 is Year of the Dragon, and In case you didn't know, the dragon is a pretty big deal on the Chinese zodiac. So, to match the excitement of the new year, New York's Cassa Hotel & Residences is running a pretty nifty Chinese New Year promotion.

Guests who "like" Cassa on Facebook (and prove it by showing their computer or smartphone to the Front Desk) will be given a fortune cookie. Which at first sounds like not such a great trade-off. But hidden inside one of the fortunes is a voucher that will let you book your next stay for only $47.10/night—roughly 80% off the normal rate. All those limestone tubs and minimalist rooms just by eating opening a cookie? This might be our new favorite holiday.

Another New York hotel springing for Chinese New Year this month is Yotel, which admittedly had us stumped the last time over a cute (but bizarre) brunch invitation.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 25, Yotel is hosting a Chinese New Year party starting at 10pm in the hotel's restaurant lounge area, FOUR that will include two DJs (one of whom worked on the recent Lady Gaga tour), a contortionist, and some lion dancers to round things out. And judging from the 100-performer extravaganza that marked the hotel's opening in June, Yotel seems to know how to throw a good party.

Coinciding with this is a 4-course sharing menu at DohYo ($32.50, available thru Feb 6). Bring your Yo-partner and feast on rice dumplings, long noodles, whole roasted poussin and lychee panna cotta.
