With All The Olympics Frenzy, We Can't Forget About The Queen (The Athenaeum Certainly Hasn't)

2012 is shaping up to be a huge year for London travel: there's the matter of a certain sporting event coming to town, and from June 2nd-5th, the city of perpetually grey skies will mark 60-years of Queen Elizabeth the II's rule during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The elaborate celebration fit for, well, a Queen, is set to include a pageant on the Thames River, the lighting of beacons 'round the world, special exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery and Victoria and Albert Museum, and a variety of neighborhood luncheons thrown by locals.

A slew of royalists are sure to visit especially for the splashy affair (Londoners, meanwhile, will likely take advantage of the Bank Holiday weekend and flee town), so expect scores of hotels—particularly those around Green Park—to offer Jubilee deals. The Athenaeum is one such hotel, offering guests who book two nights in a deluxe guest room (priced at £299.00 per night) to get a third for only £60—a regal discount, for sure.

The commemorative deal is available now through June 6th, allowing travelers who'd rather not deal with throngs of avid Liz-crazed tourists to take advantage of the price cut before the actual celebration. If you do visit, we can personally suggest partaking of their high tea. The hotel's solid take on a long-loved English tradition comes complete with Laduree macarons if you so choose. You'll leave stuffed, and feeling a bit queenly yourself.

Olympics Frenzy Accommodation

This is simple accomodation and yet comfortable to stay in a family of 3.
