Park Hyatt Sydney Will Reopen March 1 at $855 a Night

We knew the big, big revamp of the Park Hyatt Sydney was going to be a big deal. But deal is not a word you're going to hear in any other capacity when it comes to this harbour-front icon.

Apparently the hotel is on track to re-open in mid-February but is taking reservations from March 1 onwards. And the starting rate for a night on March 1st? $AUD 855 a night.

Before you think, but hey, that's Aussie dollars. It's got to be cheaper when you convert it, right? --check out how strong that Aussie dollar is. The rate converts to $893 US dollars. Ouch.

Of course, this is going to be a spectacular renovation to experience. The Park Hyatt has the best location of perhaps any hotel in the world, and is the home of choice for any and all visiting stars.

The new rooms start at a roomy 430 square feet, and have a residential-style decor with new lighting and techie touches. Commissioned artwork by Australian art stars are in all of the 155 roos and suites. But what you'll really want to frame is the stunning views of Sydney Harbour, the Bridge and the Opera House through the floor-to-ceiling glass doors and from the private balconies.

Bathrooms also get an upgrade in the reno--with new double vanities, rain showers, deep tubs and, oh yeah, heated Toto toilets with built-in bidets.

Guess we know where Oprah's staying on her next trip down under.
