Autograph Makes Its Mark With A New Hotel Magazine

Autograph Collection has one other piece of news to share this week: the launch of a new magazine, titled rather appropriately, Autograph Collection Hotel Magazine. Also rather appropriately, the masthead contains the autographs of four of the company's executives. But it gets more interesting after that...

True to the nature of the hotels themselves—culturally significant, beautiful, slightly artsy—the stories themselves are quirky, compelling and very beautifully designed. Topics range from desert shrimp farms to frescoes in Rome to "auto-correcting" the poetry of Emily Dickinson (ha), with about a third of the stories corresponding to specific Autograph Collection hotels. Wise, on their part. With only 24 in their growing collection, they might otherwise have run out of ideas after just two issues!

Scroll down for a peek inside!

Possibly our favorite—and most beautifully photographed—story explores the hundred-year-old history of the AC Santo Mauro, which a French architect built in 1894 for the Duke of Santo Mauro and the Marques of Santa Cruz. The Salon Rojo is indeed one of the prettiest hotel spaces we've seen in a while.

We feel we should also mention: judging from a tactless promotional plug for American Express in the editor's post-script (and a two-page ad at the very front of the magazine), we're guessing there was some significant financial gain involved in the magazine's publishing. So before we get all quixotic, it's good to keep in mind these things are often always motivated by money.

But if you wanna read about desert shrimp and look at pretty pictures of hotels, then, yes, you should go grab a copy from your nearest AC hotel. Maybe you can even get a bellhop to autograph it for you.
