Just flipping through the Starwood hotels in Thailand recently when the page for the W Bangkok reminded us that yes, the massive metropolis that is steamy Bangkok will finally get its very own W, and soon. We're talking July 2012.

So we took a stroll down Sathorn Road—a major thoroughfare with notorious traffic jams—to check out the construction in person, and we have to say that for a hotel with another 10 months to go, it's looking amazing already. It seems that it's just the interior left to work on as the 403-room hotel crafts the signature design-heavy W look.

From the exterior, the building looks super sexy...like the back zipper of a woman's dress sliding down. This medium skyscraper doesn't look odd on the skyline either, as it's surrounded on Sathorn Road by other massive buildings and hotels, including the towering Banyan Tree. One advantage the W has over all those other places? It's right next to the Skytrain (Chong Nonsi stop).

Needless to say we can't wait to see what W does here in Bangkok. A new hotel such as this is surely worth another 20 hours of flights from New York, right?

W Bangkok

The above photos are of the Sathorn Square building. The W Bangkok is not finished yet and partially showing in the above photos. Note the structure on the left with construction equipment on top of it ... that's the W angkok Hotel! W

Going by SkyscraperCity (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=591408) the W is another piece of this mostly completed building. Will update with another photo once I get around to the other side of the site.

From the ongoing construction, seems like the hotel will finally look like this http://bit.ly/qC4Tt2. No idea for the interior design but doesn't sounds like avroko will be it. Perhaps Soda-thai (http://bit.ly/qrf068) like they talked in SSC forum? Check out Sathorn Square VDO here (http://bit.ly/pZGyq6), WBKK appears a few seconds throughout the VDO. It looks hawt!
