Over the weekend, a very dedicated HotelChatter tipster headed out to the site of the former Sheraton Belgravia to check on its transformation into Belgraves, the first overseas hotel from the lifestyle hotel brand, Thompson Hotels.

The opening for the hotel is still set for Late 2011 and since we last checked in on the place in March, a lot of work has been done on the building--at least on the exterior. Or has it? Our tipster observes:

It looks....... uhm, like the Sheraton? Maybe more brown paint than that faint purple that the Sheraton had going on? I mean, I'm not sure but does it really look that different? The only thing that seemed a little different was above the old entrance; it seems they've taken out two of the windows (ones like all the other room ones) that were there. Maybe they will try to snazz up the entrance and hope no one looks up?

We agree. It still looks very Sheraton-y and the roof might be to blame. Also it doesn't look like the windows have changed a bit either. Here, have a look for yourself.

But the switcheroo above the entrance does sound intriguing. So far the description on the hotel's website hasn't changed with the Belgraves promising 85 guestrooms with "bold interior architecture and design, and an attention to privacy, blending traditional British hospitality with Thompson’s American bohemian attitude." We just hope it's more "American bohemian attitude" than "British hospitality."

Got any new scoop on the Belgraves Hotel--when it's opening, what's inside, who's designing what, etc.--then let us know!
