Now open in the grim environs of London's Zone Five (read: far, far, far away from the city proper) is the Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5, the omnipresent chain's second hotel at the airport. Staying in the ominous reaches of outer London is neither a feasible nor appealing prospect for tourists, but for busy businessmen and women in town for a mere evening or two, the hyper-contemporary lodgings may prove a decent option.

Expectedly, there is plenty of conference and event space in the new Hilton, while on-site restaurant The Gallery "specialises in seasonal and local produce freshly prepared and cooked to order" and the hotel's River Bar features alleged "views" amidst "chic surroundings." Having personally taken the Picadilly Line to-and-from Heathrow several times (and observed nothing but stretches of austere suburban surroundings), we're skeptical about the quality of these so-called anti- views.

In all other regards, the Hilton Heathrow Terminal Five seems on-par with what we expect from the chain:

[C]ontemporary guestrooms are each fitted with a 37" integrated flat screen HD television, Hilton Serenity beds, deluxe bathrooms, a generous workspace and complimentary high speed internet access. The hotel also provides a Hilton Fitness by Precor facility equipped with treadmills, cross trainers and weight machines open 24-hours.

Current rates range anywhere from £199.00 for a Twin Hilton Guest Room to £499.00 for a Deluxe One Bedroom Suite. Apparently you can put a price on convenience, and it bargain it most certainly is not.
