Miami Hotel Restaurant Mambo: Raleigh & W SoBe Get New Chefs

Solea, as the tabloids say, in happier times.

Miami Spice is still offering its cheap eats through the end of September, but the latest hotel news in South Beach has us thinking ahead to next year's Spice--when two new restaurants will be in place at two of the most high-profile properties in town.

We were waxing lyrical about The Royal at The Raleighjust last week--and it's only been there since last November--but clearly our love is not enough to prevent change. Miami's most famous chef, Michael Schwartz of Michael's Genuine, is moving into the Raleigh, probably by the end of the year.

That's huge. But it's not the only restaurant revolving door spinning--the Miami New Times blog Short Order also informs us that Solea is out at W South Beach, and NYC-cool eatery The Dutch is taking its place. Well, isn't this a lot to chew on? (Ha!)

Despite the fact that we'll miss the rock shrimp gnocchi at The Royal, we're actually pretty excited about Michael's Genuine coming to The Raleigh--anyone who frequents Miami Beach must be. If you haven't eaten at his Design District temple of farm-fresh ingredients and mouth-watering deliciousness, you're missing out.

As for The Dutch, we're sure its NY reputation will precede it, and make tables hard to score from the get-go. This is pretty exciting for the W, which hasn't had a big splash of news since it opened two years ago. Its pool deck is a perennial favorite of the Miami event scene, and WALL continues to draw big names and Page Six mentions, so it's only fitting that the hotel is adding a restaurant that can keep up.

While restos come and go in Miami at a dizzying pace, fans of The Dutch can rest assured: Chef Andrew Carmellini tells Short Order that he has a long lease at the W.
