Heading to Brooklyn for Labor Day weekend? Here's one place you definitely should not count on staying at. The long-awaited Hotel Williamsburg, once scheduled for a June opening, was pushed back to August, and then September. Now, the official date is sometime in October. Do we believe them?

Though we've known details about the building for quite some time (pool cabanas, custom-made uniforms, tacos), construction progress seems to have held up the show. Which is a shame, because—we've said it before—but Williamsburg is an open playing field for boutique hotels. When it comes to competition, there basically is none.

Needless to say, we're pretty curious about this place, especially when it comes to the live music scene. Back in July, a PR rep had confirmed that the hotel does indeed plan on having bands perform at the hotel (once, of course, it is open), and that he wanted the hotel "to be a platform for musicians and artists in NYC." And if ever there was a designated space for an indie music event series, it would be here.

Right across the street, for crying out loud, the Williamsburg Waterfront has maintained a brisk lineup of major bands (Death Cab For Cutie, Sonic Youth, TV On the Radio and Fleet Foxes) all summer long. And surely those bands need somewhere to stay? You get the idea.

Have any news on this delayed hotel? Send it our way!
