It’s the first property to be designed by Martin Margiela, and it is far from the florid, over the top stuff we were expecting. From the website, the new look appears to be a festival of bright, white rooms, clean lines and crisp colors—with a few trippy touches thrown in here and there.
The photos aren’t great yet – there’s no picture of the trompe l’oeil bedside rug (which is supposed to set the theme of the deluxe couture rooms). So there’s technically no discernible difference between these and the standard rooms.
What we do see are pictures of the four suites, from the black Curiosity Case (complete with a curiosity case), to the all-white Lost Mouldings. The Gilded Lounge suite looks interesting – its wallpaper is a photographic representation of the hotel’s florid lounge, downstairs. Trippy! The White Cover suite sounds slightly creepy – everything, from the bedside table to the TV, is sheathed in white sheets.
Prices range from €270 ($390) for a superior room and €410 ($592) for a deluxe couture room, to €1125 ($1624) for a couture suite. With those prices, let’s hope they update their photos soon. Although, according to these pictures, the public areas look pretty fly.
