Autograph Collection Hops A Ferry To The Caribbean

Boy, that Autograph Collection sure gets around. We've barely finished letting you know that the Marriott group of 'high personality hotels' was going Euro and here comes news that they'll also be hitting up the Caribbean.

Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina in the British Virgin Islands will fall under the Autograph umbrella in early 2012�the most appropriate time of year to drop everything and jet off to a small, private island. Start racking up those Marriott Rewards points now!

Yes, we said private island. Scrub is located on a 230-acre isle east of Tortola (you can fly into Tortola Airport, or take a more leisurely ferry ride from St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.) The resort has just 67 rooms, suites and villas, but there's also a 60-slip marina on the island. SO the hotel is already expecting plenty of ~~wealthy yacht types~~ nautical guests!

The Autograph Collection is growing in leaps and bounds, giving independent hotels the chance to ride the Marriott train and giving Marriott Rewards members the opportunity to branch out from the predictable properties they're used to.

Scrub Island is still pretty new. When it opened in mid-2010, it was the first private-island resort to open in the BVI for more than 15 years. The resort has all the amenities you'd expect, although the spa is scheduled for a relocation and expansion some time between now and early 2013.
