UPDATE: Despite getting our news from a solid source a little while back, it appears that the plans were not finalized or have changed. After we published this story, we heard from the publicity team repping SLS, who said that our info was inaccurate and Hershberger won't be moving into SLS at South Beach, after all. Insert sad face here.

Ladies, this may be almost as exciting as the news that Lenny Kravitz would be working his hotel sex magic on The SLS Hotel at South Beach. Almost.

Along with those big-name chefs from the SBE Group--Jose Andres, Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi blah blah blah--one more big name will be joining this hotel when it finally opens in 2012: messy-cool hairdresser du jour Sally Hershberger. Finally, Miami may leave the flatirons and Brazilian treatments alone for just a minute and give choppy, piecey, total rock stair 'dos or big, sexy beach waves a try instead.

This isn't a huge surprise, consider Hershberger already has her Style Studio at the Ciel Spa inside the SLS Beverly Hills--but it is welcome news. We've been starved for details on The SLS at South Beach--although we have seen bulldozer movement at its base, meaning work is ahoy.

Hershberger coming to town is sure to send the social set into a tizzy. While she's famous for $800 haircuts (that's not a typo), blowouts at the SLS BH start at "just" $85. Of course, Hershberger's appeal is in her A-list fan base, making celeb sightings while in the chair priceless, no?

As The SLS South Beach shapes up--and we get visions like this Phillipe Strack-designed interior of the Style Studio at SLS BH dancing in our head--we find ourselves becoming more and more intrigued by what this hotel will look and feel like. Starck, of course, made his name transforming the Delano--which is right next door--into South Beach's most iconic hotel ever. Can he make magic a second time with SLS? The countdown continues ...
