Hotel Williamsburg Is Set For An Early August Opening, Plus A Taco Truck

Last we checked, the Hotel Williamsburg still had some work ahead of it. But we gave them the benefit of the doubt, and even placed The Watering Tower on our rooftops list. Now we wonder if it would really have been better off on next summer's list instead.

The hotel currently gives an approximate opening date of early August, though a recent stroll past the building revealed a rather bare-looking lobby. But! Lest we wallow too long in our pessimism, there are two recently-added features to the space that might help define this slowly emerging hotel.

Yes, there will be a taco truck, located by the pool area. Neither the company name, nor the truck name have been announced, but we're secretly hoping for the Brooklyn Taco Company.

Additionally, there is the potential for an art gallery to function inside the hotel as a showcase for local talent, though the hotel's spokesperson wasn't able to confirm that detail. We first learned that tidbit here.

For now, the Hotel Williamsburg continues to be a bit of a guessing game. And until we hear more about that pool, we'll just have to keep up our membership at the Metropolitan Rec Center—not that we're happy about it, though.

Hotel has a fire inspection with New York fire department 08/07/2011 at 6pm. If hotel passes inspection, hotel will open officially September 19th, with a soft opening before.
