The Grand Hyatt San Francisco is in the midst of a $70 million renovation, giving its lobby, open-kitchen restaurant and lounge and meeting facilities an upgrade, but the rooms are finished with their makeovers.

All 630 rooms received a facelift, and 21 were converted to hypoallergenic accommodations. The rooms were made to be more residential, but we're especially digging the technology inside them.

They come with Uno-Bitell phones that double as alarm clocks and iPod players. There are 37-inch LCD flat-screen HDTVs that you can watch from all areas of the rooms. The televisions are connected with jack packs, multimedia hubs that easily hook up your screen with laptops or DVD players. There's also a wireless network that enables the smart door locks to “talk” to the thermostat and in-room safe. It helps the hotel check energy use and notify you if you leave something in the safe upon check-out.

Aside from the techie perks, rooms will have wood flooring, custom artwork, spacious seating areas and spa-like glass and tile bathrooms. They will have floor-to-ceiling windows as well and blackout shades to block out that morning sun.

Next up: In August, the hotel's Grand Club floor, the suites and meeting spaces will get their makeover. We'll keep you updated on the changes.
