'The Biggest Loser' Resort Wins Licensing Deal for More 'Loser' Resorts
The Biggest Loser Resort, an actual resort modeled off of the popular NBC weight loss reality show, has just won big. Fitness Ridge Worldwide, the company that operates the Biggest Loser Resorts in Utah and Malibu, has just acquired domestic licensing rights to expand the chain even further.
The company hopes to build more fully-branded Biggest Loser Resorts but they are also looking to place the Biggest Loser experience within existing hotels. Bye, bye gloomy basement-dwelling hotel gyms and hello Biggest Loser fitness centers, complete with scales that display your weight on giant screens?
It will be interesting to see how Biggest Loser plans to incorporate their losing experience within existing hotels. Given that a stay at the full Biggest Loser resorts starts at $2,000 for a minimum seven-day stay and is a serious kick-in-the-too-soft rear for couch potatoes, the outposts within hotels might just be a better "maintenance" alternative. But maybe Bob and Jillian could make a DVD appearance.
