Miami's Catalina Hotel Wants You To Help Select Their Summer Wine

We don't tend to think of South Beach as a wine tasting sort of place--at least not in the summer. But tomorrow night, a wine tasting is exactly what's going down at the Catalina Hotel. The idea? Sample as many wines as possible for the chance to win incentives that will bring you back to the Catalina.

Also: the hotel and its Maxines Bistro & Bar needs help settling on the list of summer lines they'll be serving--so guests at Friday night's soiree will be asked to rate what they taste.

Here's how it works for anyone looking for a pre-club South Beach experience tomorrow night:

First, you buy your $20 ticket, either by emailing erin@southbeachgroup.com in advance or purchasing one at the door. That will give you free license to sample as many as 15 wines. A 'wine passport' that you present at each station will let you vote for your favorites. The wine-tasting takes place poolside (so do take caution when sipping rose in stilettos), and there'll be live music and passed hors d'oeuvres to munch on.

Guests who fill up their wine passport (uh, get bombed?) receive a $15 gift certificate to use at Maxine's Bistro at a later date. The hotel is also hosting a raffle on site, to give away prizes that include a two-night hotel stay, dinner for two, cabana bed poolside brunch, and bottles of wine.

The vino flows from 8 p.m. Friday night. Rooms at Catalina start at $168.75.
