If it's summer, there must be a pool party goin' on. Are we wrong?

In Miami, the newest one in town is not in South Beach but downtown in the fancy Brickell Ave neighborhood. Surprisingly, since it's at the Four Seasons Miami, it's also one of the more laid-back pool scenes we've come across in the 305.

Banish visions of those boom-boom dance music fests that dominate the beach hotels all winter. Summer is more of a locals scene in Miami, and while this pool party had a DJ, the vibe was more chill-out than burn up the dance floor.

The crowd was a mix of hotel guests, locals, and members of the on-site Sports Club/LA, with a healthy sprinkling of kids who were happy to share the shark- and gator-shaped inflatable pool toys with the grown-ups.

The view from a cabana.

Pool passes cost $25 for non-guests, or groups of up to four can book a cabana for $150 (that includes mineral water, fruit platters and one cocktail per person).

The pool party menu is eminently reasonable, with sushi, salads and appetizers for $10-20 (we recommend the summer rolls of seafood ceviche), domestic beers for $6 and caipirinhas for $7. For a spin on the old ice-cream cart routine, you can order your caipirinhas from the Leblon caipirinha cart, and watch the promo girls in green mix it chaise-side.

The next pool party is scheduled for July 9.

Beautiful!

I'd love to be there right now. Ugh, I need a vacation.
