The debut of Amanda Lepore's Tuesday night penthouse party at the Gansevoort Park Hotel also turned out to be her last. The Red Room scene, which was planned as a weekly thing, took a sour turn when guests were barred from going out onto the roof, and the event's main promoter, Kenny Kenny, stormed out in a huff.

We get the whole fire safety thing. But it seems a little odd that the Vitamin Water Summer Series manages to pack in the merrymakers every Sunday, yet somehow this soiree gets the shaft. Was it the obscene costumes? Or was it a curfew thing? To figure out what actually went down last Tuesday night, we spoke to the star herself. Read on below!

A 1am performance by cabaret icon Joey Arias had everyone in high spirits, but by the time guests were ready to take the party outdoors (remember, the hotel boasts a three-level rooftop space!), hotel staff brought things to a screeching halt. And when promoter Kenny Kenny walked out, it was Amanda who took charge:

"I was told the roof was open, and we announced that everyone should go outside. But then they closed the roof, so it was kind of weird.

I felt a little helpless, but what are you going to do? I tried to make the best of it—I couldn't walk out. People were there to see me, so I just did my job. I stayed, made sure people took pictures, hung out and talked."

We were curious if Amanda had her eye on any other hotels for future events, but her answers were mostly vague ("some place with a nice pool...good for the summer," she offered).

As for favorite NYC hotels, she mentioned one: the Soho House, which she visits whenever pal David LaChapelle is in town.
