As summer heats up and it starts to get gross outside, The James Chicago comes to the rescue with Jove T's Big Daddy Cone Ice Cream Shop, a new pop-up ice cream spot that opens today for a month-long stint.

Although it's part of David Burke's Primehouse, the ice cream shop won't be manned by meat master Burke. Instead, executive pastry chef Jove Hubbard will show off his skills, making new signature flavors each week and selling them in the hotel's JBar entrance.

Today you can get a scoop of rocky road, which goes beyond Breyers with additions like beer marshmallows and smoked almonds. And right in time for National Doughnut Day today, there also will be a Coffee & Donuts flavor, made with coffee ice cream and chunks of raspberry-jam-filled glazed doughnuts. To find out what the future flavors of the week will be, follow David Burke's Primehouse on Twitter or look on Facebook.

But you'll have to act faster than a melting cone under the hot summer sun if you want the cold creamy treat; the shop is only open from 3 to 5 p.m. (or until the ice cream runs out) on Fridays in June. A scoop in a jumbo cone costs $5, and it's cash only.
