Fairmont's hotels will observe the holiday by offering free apps, as in appetizers, from 4 to 8 p.m. Each hotel will feature a different dish, like the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver will have a Dungeness crab California roll. To get a free app, tell your server the secret phrase, which is only available on Facebook.

· JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa and CasaMagna Marriott Cancun
Tag yourself in a specified property photo, which will be announced on the JW Marriott Cancun and CasaMagna's Facebook pages on Social Media Day and you'll be entered to win a three-night stay at said hotel.

· St. Kitts Marriott Resort
Visit the resort's Facebook page on June 30 and answer the question in its status: "Which one of your friends is the most glued to his/her social networks?" Then tag your socially addicted pal and you'll score 40 percent off a treatment at the Emerald Mist Spa.

Post a photo on Facebook of something you find beautiful in Costa Rica, like a sunset or macaw. Then get your friends to "like" the photo and the picture with the most likes at the end of the day (midnight, EST) will win a free night at any of the four Costa Rica resorts.

Follow @ArubaMarriott on Twitter and on June 30, tweet the following: "Tweet me with a trip to @ArubaMarriott  #SMDay" for an entry in to a drawing for a three-night, four-day stay for two at the resort.

Keep refreshing San Juan Marriott's Facebook page and Twitter feed for offers throughout the day. The resort will post special offers such as free upgrades, complimentary drinks and value-added amenities.

"Like" the Sandpearl's Facebook page and post a photo of yourself at the hotel, tagging the resort in the pic. You'll receive 25 percent off an ice cream pedicure at the spa. (The deal must be booked on Social Media Day, but can be redeemed at a later date.)
