More Hotel Openings in Panama to Follow Trump Panama Debut On July 6

Westin Panama, opening in October

Panama is a hive of hotel activity in 2011, but of course Trump will get there first, with Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower and its peekaboo bathrooms now set for a July 6 debut.

But the opening buzz will continue beyond the summer, with two more high-profile properties in the queue: The Westin Playa Bonita, Panama will be next off the ranks in October, and then the Doubletree by Hilton Panama City will open on January 1, 2012.

The Westin will be the first beach hotel from the brand in the area, which is a 20-minute drive from Panama City.

The hotel will have 611 guest rooms and suites, with either an ocean or tropical rainforest view, and Westin's signature Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath shower heads.

The hotel is clearly going for the business crowd, with tons of meeting and event spaces, seven restaurants and four bars.

Of all the food & beverage outlets planned, Soléo restaurant sounds like our kind of place: it will serve Mediterranean tapas and wine on the beach. For pool-drinking enthusiasts, there will also be a swim-up pool bar and a beach bar.
