A recently renovated room at Four Seasons Palm Beach

We know. Savings is not a word you associate with Palm Beach. But things are different in the summer. You know, the season when all the ritzy residents relocate to the Hamptons...

Which makes it a great time to splurge at hotels like The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach or the Four Seasons Palm Beach, which may be out of reach for most of the year.

Here's what these posh properties are offering in the way of summer deals now the temperature is soaring...

Eau Spa at The Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach

Beauty and the Beach package at Eau Spa, at The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach

For rates starting at $379 a night, this deal includes a room with a large balcony, and a $200 Eau Spa credit per room each night. The credit can be used towards a range of summer treatments, and guests also get access to the spa's 'Self-Centered Garden' (yes, really), pools, and bath lounge—which serves complimentary mini chocolate cupcakes and champagne. Designed for girlfriend getaways, the rate is based on double occupancy and is available through September 15.

Florida Resident Rates and Happy Hour at Four Seasons Palm Beach

Instead of flying north for the summer, Florida residents can stay closer to home for cheaper getaways—resident rates start at just $180 a night this summer, which includes valet parking. (The hotel also offers complimentary use of Townie bikes if you prefer to leave the car at home.) Another summer deal worth checking out is Happy Hour at the Four Seasons Palm Beach's Atlantic Bar and Grill, which is perched right on the beach. The Happy Hour menu is offered Monday through Friday from 4:30 p.m. and includes $6 champagne cocktails and a menu of $10 small bites—such as conch chowder and Wagyu beef sliders.

Point of view

I think this is my favorite blog post ever by anyone anywhere.  The "never feel clueless and always know better than everyone else" reminds me of so-called social media experts who would lay down on railroad tracks before admitting that Twitter doesn't work for all business models. Such people are not only dangerous to others, they're dangerous to themselves

Throwback design

I loved the color scheme in the spa photo because it reminded me so much of 'Golden Girls' and 'Bird Cage' 1990s design ideas. It's quintessentially Florida.
