Caesars Says Carpe Diem to Hotel Expansion

May 9, 2011 at 2:02 PM | by | Comments (0)

Caesars Palace got a taste of the limelight as the scene of The Hangover and now it wants more. The casino's parent company, Caesars Entertainment Corp. announced today that it has started a new unit to develop more hotels and restaurants but sans casinos. Hmm....

CNBC reports:

The company said Monday that the unit, called Caesars Global Life, will develop hotel properties via licensing, franchising and management agreements. Its main focus is overseas expansion.

Most of these new hotels will open in Latin America and Asia, which is like the hottest market right now with seemingly no signs of slowing down.

This is the second hotel-casino property in Vegas to pin their hopes on hotel expansion. A few months ago, Planet Hollywood announced it would be partnering up with Wyndham Hotels to expand their brand overseas as well, practically in the same markets as Caesars.

We actually think the Planet Hollywood hotels may fare better as they have an actual hook/theme, albeit cheesy movies. We're just not sure people are going to want to stay in overdone, faux palatial hotels, with fountains of the Gods everywhere, especially since these places won't have casinos attached.

Still, whenever and wherever these new Caesars Hotels open, we just hope the rooms look better than this one.
