So what else will you get for your money at the new Hotel Bel-Air? All 103 guestrooms and suites have been completely upgraded with a soft and pretty but wholly modern new look featuring Bang and Olufsen flat-screen TVs and a work space with an integrated media hub. Most guestrooms and suites will have larger bathrooms with separate showers and baths and our fave, heated limestone floors.
For the A-listers, the hotel also created 12 new suites built into the hillside with canyon views, outdoor fireplaces and private pools.
Elsewhere on the grounds is a brand-new 12,000-sq.ft. Spanish mission style structure with a bell tower, a fitness studio, three loft-style guestrooms with open floor plans and the all-new 4,134-sq.ft. Spa by La Prairie. When the hotel opens in October it will actually feature the first in-room amenity line of body care products from La Prairie.
But one thing that hasn't changed? The hotel's Swan Lake and its resident Bel-Air swans. Those guys are still peddling away but on clearer water thanks to a new circulation pump.
The website is showing availability on opening night but at a slightly higher rate of $595 for a deluxe guestroom. If you need some company during your stay, we might be willing to help out with the cost. Hint, hint.
UPDATE: You could also enter the hotel's Facebook giveaway to win three "glorious" nights in a Premiere Canyon View Suite with $500 dining credit, $500 La Prairie Spa credit, a welcome gift and a signed and personalized Wolfgang Puck cookbook. Total retail value? $9,000. Do it!

The way it was. Shivers!
