If you're looking to get away for some sun, the San Diego Marriott La Jolla is trying to lure in summertime tourists with rates that start at $79 a night.

When you step into the lobby, it seems more upscale than other those at other Marriotts, which is fitting for the chi-chi neighborhood. But it looks like the rooms are the the same predictable Marriott hotel rooms. Our suspicions were confirmed on TripAdvisor.

The hotel is set in tony La Jolla, but it's not in the hopping, touristy downtown. It would be a good base for business travelers, since the Marriott is right in the middle of the business district. Though it is right near big shopping mall Westfield UTC. But if you want to see the seals on Casa Beach or shop the boutiques in downtown, you better have a car and cough up the $20-a-day hotel parking fee.

Nevertheless, it's hard to get a room in a La Jolla hotel for under 100 bucks. So if you want to vacay in the tony town, use the promotion code "ADV" when booking. The $79-and-up sale goes through June 30.
