Break out your best Lauren Alaina voice and you could win something big at several Joie de Vivre hotels. Okay, so you won't be crowned the next American Idol and have the satisfaction of beating shoulda-been-eliminated-long-ago Scotty McCreery in the battle of the teenage country crooners, but you can score an upgrade at four JDV hotels.

The Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, Pacific Edge Hotel on Laguna Beach, Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach and Hotel Angeleno in Los Angeles will each give away one upgrade per day by providing brave guests the opportunity to sing at check-in (hasn't hotel staff been abused enough with instances like DSK at the Sofietl New York?).

For the Singing for an Upgrade promotion, each hotel will offer a variety of songs, like "California Gurls" by Katy Perry and "Hotel California" by the Eagles. The first guest to break out into a song will get the daily prize for the day. As if that weren't enough public humiliation, your performance will be taped and uploaded to YouTube and Facebook for the chance to win a bigger prize, a two-night stay at each Southern California hotel.

If the upgrade has already been give out for the day, you will still be eligible to sing and enter the video contest to win the grand prize. The ditty deal ends September 30, so start practicing your runs now. The winner will be named in October, based on the number of votes the video gets. To vote, "like" JDV on Facebook.
