Aloft ExCel in London to ExCite in November

There's been a bit of griping going on here about London hotels but the Aloft London ExCel, now opening November 1, is giving us something to be happy about again.

Despite the annoying spelling of its name, Aloft ExCel makes us happy because it promises something very few London hotels do--free WiFi. There will also be other standard Aloft amenities like self-service check-in kiosks, the WXYZ bar, the re:mix lounge (aka the lobby), the re:fuel to-go snacks and meals shop, the recharge gym and the splash indoor pool.

The area isn't quite the central location you may be looking for as it's situated in the boonies "in the heart of" the city's Royal Docks and adjacent to the new ExCeL International Exhibition and Convention Centre (the only hotel with this distinction.) But given that Aloft is always lower-priced than its sister brand, W Hotels, you won't have to pay central London prices. And as we showed you today, that's a hell of a lot of money.

We tried to find rates online for November 1 but couldn't find any available for the month of November. We know that not all Aloft hotels open on time (cough, Brooklyn, cough) so don't plan your ExCellent trip just yet.
