How To Score The Room You Want At The Eventi Hotel
Our friend Virginia might have been wait listed at The Eventi but there is a way to get the room you want when there is availability.
Let's get this out of the way right up front, Eventi Hotel, Kimpton's giant ground up half condo half hotel tower is in no man's land as far as New York tourists are concerned. It isn't in Times Square, though you can walk there in no time, and it isn't in Union Square, though you can hoof it there just as fast. Eventi is technically in Chelsea, but if you are looking for a plethora of bars and restaurants right outside your window, you won't find it here.
However, Eventi has a courtyard, bar with a giant screen, and a take out place virtually built into the hotel. Don't like to be so agoraphobic? Ace Hotel New York is a block or two away and houses the tasty Breslin as well as a cool after work lobby bar..
So how do you score the room you want at Eventi? Well here is how we did it. Because we are "Kimpton In Touch" (that is how you get the free wifi), we received a guest relations email a couple days before check in asking if there was anything we needed during our visit. Immediately, we checked out Room 77 and asked guest relations if there was any chance we could get a room on the 22nd floor. They obliged, checking us into room 2204 on arrival. While we didn't get the dramatic views of the Empire State Building we were after we did get a great room on a high floor.
Alternatively, if you prefer lower floors, ask if there is any chance you can get a room on the 5th floor, those are the rooms with verandas.
Of course, whether or not you are granted your room/floor request depends mostly on availability, but don't underrate killing 'em with kindness
