Update 4.12.11: The Four Seasons tells us the noise is coming from the hotel next door which is undergoing a full renovation. The hotel assures us that they are "not doing any noise as we are doing a SOFT renovation."

Looks like things may have gotten lost in translation when we heard that the Four Seasons George V in Paris was unveiling its renovations this month. A hotel rep now tells us that the renovations have only just begun.

We pressed for a more specific timeline but we haven't heard back. However, our own Josh Flagg emailed us a few months ago about the renovations, saying they would begin on the 7th and 8th floors and will last for 36 months until they get to the first floor.

Indeed, the renovations are in full swing but they have already bothered at least one guest who wrote on TripAdvisor on March 11:

One morning it started at 8:00 and woke us up. I guess they had numerous complaints because the next morning it started much later. Do they really need to be told that 8:00 it too early for a jack hammer and drilling?

Still, this is one of the best hotels in the world and if they are making the much-needed updates to their room decor, we can't complain too much. But as always with a hotel undergoing renovations be sure to inquire about when construction starts and ends and ask for a room that will be least affected by the noise. After all, if you're paying over $1,000 a night, it's the least the hotel could do for you.
