Hotel Americano Now Opening September 1

Not too long ago, we wondered when the new Chelsea hotel, Hotel Americano, would be getting a more fleshed-out website. The hotel promised to open this spring yet the reservations system and room descriptions were MIA. Never a good sign in our experience.

As it turns out the spring date is no longer.

Thanks to a HotelChatter Twitter follower Tommy Naples, we find out the hotel is opening on September 1. That's the bad news. The good news is that the website is allowing you to book a room now for that date. And we also learned a little bit more about the rooms.

A deluxe king starts at 255-sq.ft. for $375 a night

There's low-lying wooden platform beds inspired by Japanese ryokans, black out shades, custom Sharps toiletries, iPads, Samsung LED Pro-Idium TV with full HD, 24-hour room service served in bento boxes and get this, soft washed denim bathrobes and felt wool slippers. Our toes are tingling already.

There were also queen rooms available on September 1 for $325 a night. These rooms are slightly smaller but offer all the same goodies and northern views. For a splurge, the Uptown Studio is available at 430sq.ft. for $650 a night. Again all the amenities are included but these rooms also sport bathtubs.

As for pictures, the ones on the website in the reservations are too small to post here but the rooms were recently photographed for the new Design Hotels book and a reader kindly sent us some scans. Love those old school phones!
