Now for the minuses: The reviewer wrote, "Hotel Luca may not be the most glamorous or elegant lodging, or the best bargain (rooms start at $350)." But the harshest criticism was for the hotel's Tuscan eatery. "The restaurant, Cantinetta Piero, is a convenient, if not particularly tasty, option. Our dry pizza and flavor-starved steak hardly rivaled authentic Italian fare or the five-star cuisine that Yountville offers," he said. Granted, it is hard to compete with such amazing local eateries as French Laundry and Bouchon.
The room itself got mixed reviews. The heated bathroom tiles were a nice addition, but the coverage was spotty, and the sinks weren't working well. Though the reviewer enjoyed the balcony overlooking the courtyard.
Although the reviewer piled praise on the hotel staff, he said that when he couldn't find a room service breakfast menu, he tried calling a server to find out his options. It got too confusing, so he had to run down to the restaurant himself to get a menu. If the hotel staff were really as impeccable as he said, wouldn't someone bring a menu to his room? We're just saying.
