Just days after his 56th birthday, actor Kelsey Grammer took to the Plaza Hotel to celebrate his marriage to 29-year-old Kayte Walsh—a former Virgin Atlantic flight attendant who may now count herself as Grammer bride No. 4.

The mismatched couple—known for shameless public displays of affection—were reported to have booked the hotel back in early February, and—thanks to a TMZ-released five-page banquet order—details of the lavish wedding reception soon became public knowledge. A $400 per head cost of the event guaranteed a "Premium" open bar, champagne toast (unfortunately, the speech itself remained un-published), and mouthwatering hors d'oeuvres like goat cheese truffles, butterflied ginger prawns, and handmade arepas. After reading through the five-star menu, even we would be willing to tolerate a poolside groping session with the Gramms himself.

As for the party itself, Grammer enlisted the services of floral and event designer Ed Libby, who has also worked on events for Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks and Sting. Grammer also hired Fred Marcus photography, and—most important of all—cake genius Sylvia Weinstock. "If you're going to a very modern, cool space like the W, then you do a cake that reflects that," explains Weinstock, who met with Grammer, Walsh, and Walsh's mother a week before the big to-do. She continued:

For the Kelsey Grammer event, we had three things to keep in mind. Number one, it's a wedding. Number two, it's in a ballroom at the Plaza. And finally, that it's grand, gracious, and elegant.

Following along with these criteria, Weinstock and her team created a classy white and gold cake (pictured) that was displayed in the ballroom alongside floral displays by Libby.

Were any hotel guests lucky enough to sneak a peek inside the festivities? "Not to my knowledge," says Laura Wang, a staff member at CPS Events, who handles all events for the Plaza.
