No Viceroy Beverly Hills This Year but Free Nights At L'Ermitage Soften The Blow

The Viceroy Beverly Hills, a property currently operating as L'Ermitage Beverly Hills, has pushed back its planned 2011 opening to next year. The new date, "debuting in 2012," puts it behind the Viceroy Maldives in the development pipeline, with the island resort still slated for this year.

There's little more in the way of details on the new design and how the Viceroy takeover will materially effect the 119 guest rooms. So we're wondering what the hold-up could be—after all the hotel is already built, staffed and operating.

Could the soft hotel market in L.A. be the real cause for the delay? Right now, L'Ermitage is offering a third night free and breakfast throughout stays through the end of June. A total of eight other Beverly Hills properties are doing the same. Hmmm… Hard to get those big luxury hotel spends when you're giving away nights!
