It was more than a year ago that we heard of a new bar coming to New York's Paramount Hotel. Then, a few weeks ago, we noticed these signs in the ground-floor windows of the hotel. Progress was afoot!

Indeed, the new Paramount Bar is now in soft opening mode, with its official opening the week of April 11. One tipster directed us to the bar's new Facebook page, where you can get a sneak peek of what the new space will look like ...

The chandelier reminding us of the hotel's Couture Suite is no accident--the bar was also designed by Susan Jaques, who had this to say about her work:

“I wanted to create a destination that captures the glamour of the greats who have graced the property throughout its history.”

Meaning? Red velvet banquettes, vintage black-and-white prints, a mirror-paneled bar, and golden Murano glass fixtures. Paramount Bar will also have a rotating roster of female DJs, and a cocktail menu that includes a Billy Rose's Fizz and a Red Velvet. (More on those drinks soon, once we've had a chance to give the topic due diligence.)

The bar will be open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
