Liz Taylor's Favorite Hotels (Or, Places That Got a Whiff of White Diamonds)

Elizabeth Taylor has gone to the great presidential penthouse suite in the sky and the only proper way we know how to mourn the great actress is by looking at her favorite hotels.

A random Google search brought up this amazeballs website for us, Hotels of the Rich and Famous, which "chronicles" all the hotels that Liz Taylor had stayed at in her lifetime. This is by no means a complete list and who knows where HORAF got their info but The Beverly Hills Hotel, The Dorchester in London, and the Hotel De Crillon in Paris are well-documented hotel stays in La Liz's life, especially The Dorchester.

Liz used to stay there before the hotel was even called the Dorchester and then later brought her husband (two times over) Richard Burton with her. The Daily Mail reports:

She knew it in her days as a child star and made the largest of the three roof suites, The Harlequin, her own. It boasts a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom and dressing room, a dining room, living room, bar and large outside terrace overlooking Hyde Park.

The suite's second bedroom still has the original pink marble bathroom that was installed for Taylor. According to legend, the couple carved 'RB xxx ET' into the marble after one night of carousing - something to search for next time you check in.

Liz even decorated the suite by buying Burton a £92,000 Van Gogh painting and hanging it herself above the penthouse suite's fireplace. (She later took it out of the suite.) But it wasn't all high times at The Dorchester. Yes, this is where Liz signed her million-dollar deal for Cleopatra but it's also where she was sidelined with a near-fatal case of pneumonia.

Still, you could even say Liz loved hotels so much that she married them-- her first marriage (out of 8) was to hotel heir Conrad "Nicky" Hilton, Jr. whose father founded Hilton Hotels. The two were actually married at The Savoy in London in 1950. But the relationship crashed and burned nine months later. Not that that deterred Liz from marrying again....
