What Do You Look For in a Hotel Breakfast?

March 18, 2011 at 2:42 PM | by | Comment (1)

Fresh fruit and cheeses and thinly sliced meats and yogurt and granola....oh my, we're drooling. Hotel Breakfasts can be almost as magical as a hotel stay itself, provided the pickings are good. So we're wondering, what do you look for in a hotel breakfast spread?

If we had our ideal continental buffet, it'd be something like what we recently experienced at the awesome GombitHotel in Bergamo, Italy. The hotel—a Design Hotels member hotel housed in a medieval tower in the elevated historic town—cost us only 88 Euro per night for a beautiful room (more on that soon) and included one of the freshest hotel breakfasts we've had in quite some time.

Like it or not, your hotel breakfast can make or break your day. Hmm they only have whole milk? Hello, stomachache later! There's only your choice of super sweet pastries? Prepare for a sugar rush and a crash later. Greasy has browns and sausage with no fresh fruit options? If you don't feel heavy all day, you'll end up with slightly worst skin (and likely acne) regardless.

So tell us: What are your favorite hotel breakfast items and where have you had an excellent morning meal? Let us know in the comments below!

EGGS

eggs, cheese, bread and fruit. my most memorable breakfast was in tuscany with homemade bread, boiled eggs and cheese from the farm down the road. amazing!
ham is also fabulous, as per your pic. no kiwi fruit though, i'm deathly allergic to them
