Think they're gossiping about the Armani Hotel next door?
The Grand Hotel, unlike the Armani, is a historic Milan property nearing its 150th birthday. It was here that Giuseppe Verdi wrote some of this operas and where he also died; the Milan is only a quick walk to the La Scala opera house, so you can imagine the long list of other illustrious former guests. On the other hand, the Armani has youth and flash and dash going for it, not to mention what looks like a slick and modern construction.
We personally know some fashion journalists who typically bunk down at the Grand during Milan Fashion Week, but have been eyeing the Armani, especially since the upper floors of the Grand Hotel have what looks to be a nice view directly into the Armani's rooms opposite.
Will the hotels clash when the Armani eventually opens later this year? Or is there plenty room for more 5+ star hotels in Milan? Keep in mind that the Bulgari Hotel is just up the street as well.
Stay tuned, as we'll have more on the Armani Hotel construction next week...
