The BLVD Is Open Early On Ventura Blvd

Ladies and gents, hold your breath. Prepare to sit down. Prepare to be amazed. Because, in a world of constant opening delays, there is one property that has quietly opened early.

Who is this trend bucker, this breaker of tradition? Why, it's the BLVD Hotel & Spa in Studio City. Only last month they were working towards a February 4 opening. This morning, we checked the website, assuming we’d see a “no rooms available on this date” message. But no, we could make a reservation for $169.

So we called, just to be sure, and were told that not only were they open tonight but, actually, they’d opened early last week. Amazing.

We ran through some dates in February and March and rates seem to be exactly the same, whichever date or day you choose (yes, even for the Oscars) - $169 for a one bed suite or room with two queens, $179 for a two queen suite, $289 for a BLVD two room suite or $599 for a “two bedroom suite with kitchen”. We can’t quite tell whether it’s worth splashing out because the website isn’t hugely detailed and the reservations page shows the same picture for a two queen room and a two bedroom suite – so let’s hope they rectify that soon. Also, let’s hope they update their Twitter and Facebook accounts soon, eh? Though, let's be honest. We'd rather have a hotel that's open than one that's behind schedule because it's been tweeting too hard.

In the meantime, as signed up fans of Studio City, we’re hoping this turns out to be a goodie.
