Here Comes Another Country Retreat For Londoners, And This One's For Musicians

First there was Coworth Park, then came Waldorf Astoria's Syon Park Hotel and now there's another country retreat in the works: Heckfield Place, a luxury retreat opening in Hampshire. The new retreat will be a “world-beating” 5 star country hotel (that's some fighting talk) following a multi-million pound facelift.
Heckfield Place which is due to open in April 2012 will have 70 rooms, a sports centre, recording studio, cookery school, wine academy, dance studio and swimming pool and spa. It sounds a bit like a boarding school for adults to us and with all of these features it will no doubt be filled with boarding school types. The idea, apparently, is that musicians will come here to record an album so if you fancy yourself as a groupie you know where to stay.
Like Coworth Park, most of the food served in the restaurant will be from local suppliers including the Heckfield Place farm located within its grounds. Apparently the pigs have already been purchased for the first round of bacon sarnies (tear).
Only 40 minutes on the train from London Waterloo, and with the manager from The May Fair and chef from the Mandarin Oriental it will certainly give the other country retreats a run for their money.
