Hotel Indigo Glasgow Announces an Opening Date of 18 April, But Expect May
The Hotel Indigo roll out is gathering speed, first we gave you the low down on Hotel Indigo Liverpool and this week itís Hotel Indigo Glasgow.
According to the website, it's due to open April 18, though the fact that reservations are only being taken for 2 May onwards makes us think that it's going to be another delayed opening. Located on the corner of Waterloo and Blythswood Street, in the heart of Glasgow's financial district the hotel will be housed within a 19th century Victorian building - letís just hope they keep some of its original features.
Rated a four-star plus each of the 94 rooms will have wood floors, wool rugs, unique murals featuring city scenes, free WiFi and iPod docks. Whilst the property will also feature state of the art business facilities and a bar and grill named Limelight. And we have to say, that studded headboard is looking fly already.
Glasgow is used to getting its fair share of bad rap but in recent years the cityís had a flutter of stylish openings including The Blythswood Square Hotel, CitizenM and The Corinthian Club, which may not be a hotel but it's a pretty swish restaurant/bar/club/casino which has transformed the nightlife scene. Designed by Graven Images who are also responsible for Hotel Missoni Edinburgh, Hotel Missoni Kuwait and Blythswood Square Hotel it's the place to see and be seen - NOW.
Only yesterday the Grand Central Hotel reopened following an eagerly awaited £20 million pound makeover. So if you're expecting kilts and haggis you won't find them in Glasgow, itís far too flash for that!
And with Glasgow hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2014 we suspect Hotel Indigo wonít be the new boy on the block for very long.
Room rates start at £117 a night, which isn't bad, although CitizenM starts its pods from £59.
