Now that the grand opening has been live streamed, how's tricks at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto? The early reviews of the hotel itself have been slow to arrive. The only word we could find on TripAdvisor is so close to shill territory, we're waiting to hear more that we can actually trust.

But the restaurant, TOCA, is starting to take over Twitter, where first responders are praising the dishes of Tom Brodi, who, it should be added, is on Twitter himself at @cheftombrodi.

Industry insider David Jewell says "Run don't walk… Destined to be an impossible-to-get reservation. Awesome meal!" while TV presenter Jennifer Valentyne Twitpic'd some egg sandwiches and French toast, calling the breakfast "delish." Local musician and blogger Will-W has a more in-depth review:

With a neatly-trimmed and succinct Menu, most Entrée options are in-and-around the $20-$25 price point; v. reasonable considering all items are Farm-to-Table fresh. The most prominent item on their list of offerings is Lobster. The LBLT (a Lobster BLT), The Pie (A Lobster and Turkey Pot Pie), Fancy Fish & Chips (Chunks of Lobster coated in Mill Street Brewery Beer Batter and Fries). A Burger and a Liver (dressed with Peameal Bacon and Mashed Potatoes) options also looked enticing.

A Chowhound user also files on the food, for the most part dismissing the apps and giving high marks to the mains and sides:

[The] pork stew I thought [was] quite nice, although our friend who tried it thought it tasted like the Vietnamese beef brisket stew. The seasoning is good and the pork texture is not dry, it's just right.

The creamed spinach is very good. It is very fine, almost like a spinach dip according to my gf. It is very rich. The avocado frites are more like avocado wedges, deep fried in a batter … Texture is very creamy and works well with the homemade mayo that came with the side.

Been there yourself? Please do send a report over the tip line.
