Shank says HotelTonight serves locals and visitors, business and leisure travelers alike because there are a number of reasons a guest would want to book by mobile while standing in front of a hotel, whether it's a shift in flight plans, bad weather, a late night at the office or a spontaneous vacation. (He did not offer up "a hastily arranged tryst" as a reason to use the app, but we're suggesting it now.)
Of course, the real selling point is the substantial deals the app offers, on average 40 percent below market for quality hotels that we'd actually stay at, like a couple of Shank's recent faves The Ace and the Adagio. (The CEO says guest feedback and editorial research keep out the clunkers.) That the company is offering a $25 credit for simply downloading the free app is just gravy. Oh, and remember, once those Vegas hotels pop up on the app, you'll have until HotelTonight's regular 2 a.m. cut-off time to book.
