Has the St John Hotel Delayed Its Opening To April?
Guess what, it’s February and the St John Hotel still isn’t open. So what’s going on? Well last month there were rumours that the hotel would open late January with rezzies being taken online from March 2nd. But now the website says sold out until April 2nd and we have a feeling that means it won't open until at least then.
What’s more, it looks like the prices have gone up. The cheapest room rate was originally £200 with a suite coming in at £545. However after checking the rates on the hotel's website the cheapest room is now £240 with suites costing £654. We suppose they need to find the lost takings from somewhere.
But it's not all doom and gloom, the hotel just released this short film named “Meat and Greet”, shot by Marcus Gaab to whet our appetites.
From the look of the food, it's doing the job, although we're still not sure what that is on the plate in the first breakfast shot. Sausages and gravy? Kidneys on toast? It looks slightly strange to us and with Fergus Henderson's nose-to-tail eating ethic it really could be anything.
In the meantime keep an eye on the Twitter account which said the hotel was "looking to announce an official date by next week." Fingers crossed!
